You Are Made of Light

You are made of light.

Literally.

The particles that comprise your body are not little balls of matter, the neutrons and protons that we learned about in school. The most basic constituents of matter are actually tiny vibrations of energy, the pure stuff from which the universe was formed in its infancy. Pure energy. Basically, you are light.

I had a vision at a conference a few years ago. The speaker, Graham Cooke, was standing on the stage at the end of the three-day conference, basically blessing the crowd and releasing us back into the world. I envisioned his body as a white, glowing mass of energy, a literal portal into the heavenly realm. Then I realized that everyone in the crowd was the same, and we were all connected by a heartstring. I envisioned us all leaving the conference and stretching out a net of these heartstrings so that the whole earth was covered with God’s pure energy. No one on earth, after that point in time, would be safe from a blessing because the net touched and energized everything and everyone in the world.

Imagine that your body is not actually a physical entity that moves through three-dimensional space. Imagine instead that as your spirit decides you will move forward in this physical world, it actually moves you through the time-space continuum and the particles of space in front of you become the substance of your body, while the place you just were once again becomes air or whatever other particles of pure energy were there before you walked by.

Sound strange? The Apostle Paul said that these bodies of ours are only temporary tents that we inhabit while sojourning through this earth. We focus on what is unseen, not on what is seen, right? Our bodies are temporary or fleeting. They are made of light after all.

Now, if you consider what happened at the creation of the universe, you’ll see that the very same material that your body is made of – little particles of light – are also the basic building blocks of the universe. God breathed it all into existence with the will and power of His will and His word. It came from the very stuff of God, because He was the only thing that existed before the universe was created. He breathed His energy into what was about to become three-dimensional space, and it was filled with His little energy particles, which later coalesced to become stars, planets, carbon, and people according to His handiwork and active creative power.

It doesn’t matter whether you believe in a young (6,000 to 10,000 years old) or an ancient universe, God is the one responsible for it all and He used His creative genius to organize energy into all the billions of things we see in this physical universe. But the truth remains that you are made of light. Your brain is made of light. It is made of pure energy. And God’s energy and power vibrate throughout all the cosmos including the very atoms from which you are constructed. I can’t really develop all these ideas in a few paragraphs in a blog, but this is the subject matter of my book.

Let’s just agree that this universe – and the miraculous construct of the “physical” matter in the universe – are beyond our imaginings. But modern science is beginning to unravel the mystery. They are learning that physical matter depends upon consciousness for its existence. They are learning that consciousness happens in a realm that does not obey the laws of physics (for example, information can indeed flow faster than the speed of light). They are learning that there is an essential non-physical foundation upon which all of physical reality is built.

God is revealing Himself in these incredible days. He is using non-Christian scientists to do it, just as He used Pharaoh to assist Moses in accomplishing the will of the Almighty. We are indeed very fortunate to be alive these days. Stay tuned…
