Five Building Blocks – Part 2
So, we began a while back discussing the five building blocks to dissolving the barrier between the visible realm of our jobs, families and everyday lives, and the invisible realm of God’s kingdom realities. The first building block is “Matter is Energy” (you can re-read it below if you need a refresher). Now we discuss the second:
2. “Matter depends upon consciousness for its very existence.”
Science has determined through quantum physics that matter depends upon consciousness for its very being. Please read carefully and thoughtfully what some leading physicists have been saying about this:
“It is not possible to formulate the laws of quantum mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to consciousness” (Eugene Wigner).
“…Subjective and objective realities, consciousness, and matter mutually create each other” (John Wheeler).
“…The structure of matter may not be independent of consciousness” (Jack Sarfatti) .
“Consciousness is the ground of all being…it is matter that is the epiphenomenon, not consciousness” (Amit Goswami, in God is Not Dead: What Quantum Physics Tells Us About Our Origins and How We Should Live).
Consciousness, NOT matter, is the ultimate foundation upon which all of reality – including the physical, visible universe – is built. The unseen realm is the foundation, the primary reality, and the creative force behind the visible, physical universe.
Modern science is proving this. Which means science is finally catching up with the Bible!
This all makes complete sense if we stop to think for a moment. At one point in the ancient past God was all that existed. At a particular moment in His existence He decided to build a universe where absolutely nothing physical existed. In fact, some speculate that three-dimensional space itself did not even exist at that point. The universe itself defines the extent of three-dimensional space. If we travel to the known edge of the universe we will not find a sign that says “The Universe Ends Here” with a bunch of empty space behind it. The end of the universe actually IS the end of three-dimensional space. There is no empty space beyond the sign. There is nothing beyond the sign. No space, no emptiness, nothing. Strange, but possibly very true…
So, as God created the universe, He was defining physicality and the actual stuff of matter, space and time. Since He was the only thing that existed beforehand, the simple law of cause and effect requires that the effect (the created universe) had to depend solely on the only possible cause – God Himself. The Creator. The Prime Mover.
There was nothing else in existence that could have caused or acted as a source for the entire known universe. If God was the only thing that existed prior to the creation of the universe, then the actual substance of the universe necessarily has a lot to do with the very stuff of which God is made. Having relied upon the conscious will of God for its creation and very existence, matter itself is infused with this consciousness.
Romans 8:20-22 talks about the creation itself groaning under the burden of sin and looking forward to the day it will be released into the freedom of the children of God. Matter has consciousness, and the physical creation groans and waits. God and all of His followers feel this burden of sin and we also look forward to the day when we will finally be free of it. The fact that matter responds to consciousness has been proven in the lab for decades. Experiments prove that the mere observation of certain experiments will cause subatomic particles to change their behavior. This change in behavior is solely due to the act of a conscious person observing the particle. This is not Pantheism or Gaia (worship of Mother Earth), it’s simply admitting the biblical fact that God’s consciousness permeates all the matter and space int eh known universe.
God’s consciousness fills the entire universe. This is precisely what it means to be omnipresent and omniscient. Psalm 139 says that anywhere I go in this universe, God is there. And Colossians 1:17 tells us that Jesus Christ “is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. “ The conscious, ongoing creative power of Jesus the Creator permeates all of matter and it’s His consciousness that holds it all together! The Bible says it, and science is proving it.
So, building block number one declares that matter is energy.
Building block number two states that matter depends upon consciousness for its very existence.
Tune in for building block number three where it starts to get really interesting!
