Five Building Blocks – Part 3
We’ve been discussing the Five Building Blocks to dissolving the barrier between the seen and the unseen. Why do we care about such things? Because I believe that this is the key to unlocking a dimension of power and supernatural life that we all ought to be living in. I’m not saying I’ve arrived, but I’ve left, and I have been trying to the best of my ability to put these things into practice. And it is making a difference in my life.
For more information about these things, and a whole lot more, please check out my book “Prayer, Quantum Physics and Hotel Mattresses: Dissolving the Barrier Between the Seen and the Unseen.”
Before we continue, remember that we are creating five building blocks that might seem somewhat unrelated, but we will tie them all together in the end, so please be patient with me! This time we’re going to discuss Building Block #3, but first let’s do a little recap. Or, you can just go down the page and read the previous two entries.
The first building block is this: “Matter is energy.” Matter actually is not little solid particles holding together in the nucleus of an atom, but it literally is little balls of energy being held together in various forms to create every physical thing in the known universe. It was spoken into being by the very words and intention of God Himself. First there was nothing, then He spoke stuff into being. All matter is, at its very essence, pure energy.
The second building block: “Matter depends upon consciousness for its very existence.” I know, it sounds weird, but it’s been proven countless times in laboratories for the past several decades. Matter actually and literally responds to consciousness and in fact many believe that matter cannot exist without consciousness. I quote a few physicists in the previous posts that will lend some solidity to this strange but true statement.
Now we can continue. The third building block is this: “God’s consciousness permeates the entire known universe.”
Psalm 139:7-10:
“Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.”
Job 11:7-9:
“Can you discover the depths of God?
Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?
They are high as the heavens, what can you do?
Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?
Its measure is longer than the earth
and broader than the sea.”
Jeremiah 23:24:
“Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord.
We just can’t escape God! It’s safe to say that he is not only present everywhere on this earth, but also in the heavens, in the universe, in the blackest, most remote parts of outer space. He is “omnipresent” and knows all things. If God is present out there, then so is his consciousness. After all, that’s what it means to “be present.” Therefore, we can know for certain that God’s consciousness permeates all of the matter in the universe. Down to the remotest, tiniest, sub-atomic spaces he is there, actively holding everything together:
Scientists have identified four basic forces in nature that can account for all the equations, behaviors and rationale that dictate the existence of matter. These are electromagnetism, gravity, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force. One of these, the strong nuclear force, is the force that holds atoms together. Why is a force necessary for this task?
Think about what happens when you force the positive ends of two different magnets together. They repel each other, and the closer together they get, the stronger that repelling force. Now, we remember from high school physics that the particles in the center of an atom are either neutrally or positively charged. They are held together in extremely close proximity. If some were positive and some were negative, then they would stick together naturally, but think about it: a whole bunch of positively charged particles being held together in extremely close quarters ought to repel each other with tremendous force. Yet they hold together. How?
This is what scientists called the strong nuclear force. They could not explain why atoms held together like they do when they ought to be flying apart violently, so they just invented a force and gave it a name. Truth is, the Bible called it a long time ago:
“He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:7.
The very presence and will of Jesus the Creator holds the universe together. Literally. It’s God’s consciousness, which we already know permeates all the matter in the universe, that actually holds it all together in real time.
Hebrews 1:3 puts it this way: Jesus “upholds all things by the word of His power.” God’s Word, the same creative voice that brought the physical universe into existence, is also actively holding everything together every nanosecond of every day! God is still actively involved in his creation, and he does it through the matter that he created in the beginning. This matter is actually pure energy (Building Block #1), and it requires consciousness for its very existence (Building Block #2), and now we see that this consciousness is God’s active, intentional consciousness that is permeating all of time and space (Building Block #3) and holds it all together by his will.
God can manipulate those sub-atomic particles because he’s there! He’s present and active at that level of existence, and therefore, for example, a miracle of healing is no big deal to him. He arranged energy into matter at the creation of the universe, and he can certainly do it now to heal cancer or AIDS or the flu! He spoke to the elements and they re-arranged themselves into stars, the sun and moon, the animals, and grapefruits, so he can certainly heal your runny nose! That’s what miracles area all about: changing the natural, existing state of matter into something else, in such a way that it brings glory to God alone.
So, we’ve established the first three building blocks. The next two are where it really gets cool. Next time we’ll dive into Building Block #4 which could challenge some of your core ideas about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, but if you understand it, it could transform your life into the supernatural existence that God planned for you all along.
